PAGEANT OF SUSSEX AT ARUNDEL

PAGEANT OF SUSSEX AT ARUNDEL

Staged in the beautiful private grounds of the ancient castle of the Dukes of Norfolk this pageant, held in 1923, consisted of eight episodes starting with the coming of the Normans, and concluding with an historical procession of English earls from Alfred's day. The twelfth century scene depicts Matilda, daughter of Henry I, and Stephen, rivals for the English throne.
