WHERE THE ROAD MAKES ITS WAY OUT OF LONDON AND INTO KENT

WHERE THE ROAD MAKES ITS WAY OUT OF LONDON AND INTO KENT

By the time we have made our way through a few miles of ugly streets we reach Lewisham (top left). At the clock tower we turn to the right and proceed past South End and Bromley to Locks Bottom (top right), where the White Lion shows its sign in welcome. On we go through Farnborough - not to be confused with the Hampshire town of that name - to Green Street Green, where (bottom left) our road crosses a new arterial road. The photograph was taken from the latter, and shows the Hastings Road crossing at right angles by the pylon, just beyond the R.A.C. sentry box. Our next village is Dunton Green (bottom right).
