TONBRIDGE'S CASTLE KEEP

Next to the castles of Windsor and Berkeley this is the largest castle keep in England. It is eighty-six feet high and dates from about the reign of Henry I. Tonbridge Castle was "slighted," i e. dismantled, by the Roundheads in the Civil War.
