CHAPTER LIBRARY AT WORCESTER

CHAPTER LIBRARY AT WORCESTER

The early cathedral libraries had special rooms built for them. At Worcester Cathedral the chapter library, which was founded in 1464, is now housed in the triforium of the south aisle. It contains over 4,000 printed books and, in addition, many interesting manuscripts. Great importance was attached to the library in connexion with the English cathedrals.
