MEMORIES OF ROBIN HOOD IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE AND DERBYSHIRE

About a mile to the east of Wales by is a fine cave (bottom) named after Robin Hood. It stands on the borders of the old Sherwood Forest - now difficult to approach. It is not easy to find any solid historical support for this great character at all. The stories about him are common to a number of similar heroes, and the original Robin Hood may have been a woodland elf - Robin o' the Wood Above 5 the reputed grave of Robin's huge lieutenant, Little John, in the churchyard at Hathersage in Derbyshire.
