SLOPING STRATA AT PORT SODERICK, ISLE OF MAN: CASTLE ROCK, ANGLESEY

The Dragon Rock (bottom) is one of the sights of Port Soderick, a popular resort three miles along the coast from Douglas, chief town of the Isle of Man. About 1266 the Scots purchased the island, but Edward I intervened and put in a viceroy. Man has about 277 square miles and is about thirty miles from both the Irish and English coasts but only sixteen from Burrow Head, Scotland. The upper photograph shows us the Castle Rock in Red Wharf Bay which is on the north-east coast of Anglesey. The island was the chief seat of the Druids.
