S. CUTHBERT'S CHAPEL IN THE FARNE ISLANDS

S. CUTHBERT'S CHAPEL IN THE FARNE ISLANDS

Off the coast of Northumberland lies a little archipelago of some twenty-six islands which takes its name from Fame, the largest and nearest to the land. This situation, safe but not too remote, made it the resort of the early saints. S. Cuthbert was here between 676-685. The chapel called after him was built about 1370.
