CAMBRIDGE MARKET PLACE AND MELBOURN VILLAGE

CAMBRIDGE MARKET PLACE AND MELBOURN VILLAGE

The two ways to Cambridge meet at Hurston, the Royston route having passed through Melbourn (top), which is famous for the greengages grown in its neighbourhood. Coming into Cambridge by way of Trumpington Street, we pass Market Hill (bottom), which is the open space where the market is held but is by no means a hill. The origin of the name is a mystery. The photograph was taken close to Great S. Mary's, the University church, which overlooks this side of the market
