THE FIVE DECORATED WINDOWS IN THE CHAPTER HOUSE, YORK MINSTER

THE FIVE DECORATED WINDOWS IN THE CHAPTER HOUSE, YORK MINSTER

Next to the famous "Five Sisters" in York Minster, the traceried windows of the Chapter House hold pride of place in this great repository of stained glass. Here the glamour of the actual windows is immeasurably enhanced by the ever-bright richness of the stonework and the carving of the tall canopied stalls below the lights. The photograph shows some of the eight windows of the Chapter House, which, in spite of renovation about eighty years ago, remains one of the supreme examples of the Geometric Decorated style.
