AN OLD WORCESTERSHIRE MANSION FAMOUS FOR SECRET CHAMBERS

AN OLD WORCESTERSHIRE MANSION FAMOUS FOR SECRET CHAMBERS

Some few miles south of Droitwich, in Worcestershire, is the mansion of Hindlip Hall, where, in an earlier building, some of the Gunpowder Plot conspirators hid for a week in the marvellous series of "Priests' Holes" so cunningly devised as to warrant the description of a "rabbit warren." An old timber-framed cottage near the modern mansion is also said to have had its share in sheltering the plotters, and a room is pointed out where Digby and Catesby concealed themselves.
