THE AUTELETS OF SARK, GIANT ROCKS ON THE ISLAND'S WESTERN SEABOARD

THE AUTELETS OF SARK, GIANT ROCKS ON THE ISLAND'S WESTERN SEABOARD

Sark, for its size, has more striking cliff and rock scenery than any other of the Channel Islands. Les Autelets - or Altar Rocks - off the southern end of Saignee Bay, on the west coast, are among the most impressive of the seabird-haunted crags that strew this coast. Each of the three rocks has its name; there is the Grand Autelet, the White Autelet and the Needle. The Grand Autelet has been climbed, but the ascent is palpably difficult and dangerous work.
