YE OLDE CHESHIRE CHEESE; LAMB'S HOUSE AT ISLINGTON, AND SITE OF OLD GLOBE THEATRE

No literary hostelry in London enjoys a greater prestige than the old Cheshire Cheese (bottom), in Wine Office Court, off Fleet Street, t was the haunt of Johnson and Goldsmith, and still retains the wooden benches and sanded floor of the old time. Colebrook Cottage in Duncan Terrace (Colebrook Row), Islington (top left) is the only London house of Charles Lamb that remains much as when he lived 1823-26). At the corner in Bankside, Southwark (top right), once stood the old Globe Theatre, Shakespeare's playhouse
