The West Gate, Canterbury

The West Gate, Canterbury

Antiquarians and artists have called the West Gate of Canterbury the finest civic gate in the realm; though there are some more picturesque. It was built in 1380 by Archbishop Simon of Sudbury, as part of a defence scheme that included the reconstruction of the city walls.
