BONNINGTON LINN, LANARKSHIRE, THE THIRD OF THE FAMOUS FALLS OF CLYDE

BONNINGTON LINN, LANARKSHIRE, THE THIRD OF THE FAMOUS FALLS OF CLYDE

Bonnington Linn is the southernmost of the three falls of the Clyde. At Cora Linn, below, the drop of the river is far deeper, being some 81 feet to the 30 of the fall shown in this photograph; but the river at Bonnington is singularly impressive, for just below the falls it sweeps round m a great circle before it flows onward through a deep, precipitous gorge to Cora. The falls are actually in the grounds of Bonnington House, built by Sir John Ross, the early Polar explorer.
