ROWARDENNAN IN THE SHADOW OF BEN LOMOND AND THE PRINCIPAL STARTING POINT FOR THE ASCENT

ROWARDENNAN IN THE SHADOW OF BEN LOMOND AND THE PRINCIPAL STARTING POINT FOR THE ASCENT

For the ascent of grass-covered Ben Lomond, Rowardennan, on the east bank of the loch, is the most favoured starting point, and this photograph suggests graphically the grandly romantic character of the scenery. The Ben itself is seen in the background of the photograph. The mountain is 3,192 feet high, and the summit can be reached by a fairly safe and easy track, except when the winter snows have taken possession of the higher ground. Several of Scotland's most famous peaks are visible from the top.
