THE ENTRANCE GATE TO ANCIENT DUDLEY CASTLE

THE ENTRANCE GATE TO ANCIENT DUDLEY CASTLE

Dudley, in Worcestershire, is a Black Country town, but the ancient castle, of which the entrance gate is shown here, crowns the summit of a wooded hill comfortably above its iron furnaces The grey castle is partly 14th and partly 16th century work. At the foot of the hill is the "Wren's Nest," one of those fascinating dales that often surprise one in this area
