STAFFORD LANE, CANNOCK, AN OUTLET TO THE MOORS, AND THE PARK AT WEDNESBURY

STAFFORD LANE, CANNOCK, AN OUTLET TO THE MOORS, AND THE PARK AT WEDNESBURY

Cannock in Staffordshire is a mining town, but the photograph shows a very pleasant residential quarter in Stafford Lane (bottom); and here is an easy escape to the unspoilt moorland plateau of Cannock Chase, once a happy hunting-ground of the Mercian kings. Wednesbury is one of the Black Country's chief and busiest manufacturing towns, but its facilities for accessible open-air recreation have not been forgotten. It boasts a pleasantly laid-out park (top) of fair size. This view is taken from an eminence known as The Mound.
