WALKS WITHIN A MILE OR TWO OF WOLVERHAMPTON, THE METROPOLIS OF THE BLACK COUNTRY

Three sides of Wolverhampton, the metropolis of the Black Country, are open to the green country, and it is not difficult to discover pleasant byways and highways within a mile or two of the. town's centre. Such is leafy Compton (bottom) below Tettenhall village The steep old Hill (top) leading from Wolverhampton to that same village is another place where one may forget the ironworks and furnaces of the town. Not that these are unduly obtrusive, for Wolverhampton has quite its fair share of open spaces.
