Interior of the Temple Church: looking towards the Organ

In the Middle Ages the Knights Templars came in their hosts to worship at the Temple Church of S Mary, and to-day the church is entered from the west by a fine Norman arch that speaks of its ancient origin. Fortunately the building passed' through the Great Fire of London without serious damage, and even the restorers have not destroyed its spirit or marred its modern fame as the most beautiful small church m London. The prevailing note of its architecture and decoration is Early English, with lancet-headed windows and a beautifully groined roof.
