S. Giles in Cripplegate, the Resting Place of Milton

S. Giles in Cripplegate, the Resting Place of Milton

S.Giles', the noted London church stands very near the old wall of the City; the bastion of the wall in its churchyard, though built of Roman materials probably dates from the extensive restoration of the city walls in the time of Henry IV. Alfune a friend of Rahere, built the Norman church which has stayed practically unaltered since the height of its tower was raised in 1682 Glorious John Milton and his father he buried here; and it was the church of Oliver Cromwell's marriage in 1620.
