J. SLEFORD IN COPE AND ALMUCE

Yet another interesting ecclesiastical brass is that of J. Sleford, at Balsham, Cambridge shire, wearing the processional robe known as the cope. Under this was a large cape, the two long lappets of which bung down in front, as shown in the photograph. The name of this garment was the almuce. This brass is dated 1401.
