DICK WHITTINGTON'S STONE AT HIGHGATE

DICK WHITTINGTON'S STONE AT HIGHGATE

At the foot of Highgate Hill is the stone that commemorates the critical moment in the life of Dick Whittington, when, according to the legend, he turned again towards the London which he was minded to leave behind him for ever; to become thrice Lord Mayor of London, a knight, the greatest of London's historic merchant princes, and an ever-romantic figure in pantomime.
