THE STORY OF THE GUARDS, TOLD IN BRONZE AND PORTLAND STONE

THE STORY OF THE GUARDS, TOLD IN BRONZE AND PORTLAND STONE

The panel in relief (bottom), showing field guns in action, is on the side of the pylon facing St. James's Park, and was, with the rest of the sculpture, the work of Mr Gilbert Ledward. No London memorial occupies a more splendid position than this stately Guards' Memorial (top) in Horse Guards Parade, with its sylvan background. The five figures seen on the face of the pylon represent the five chief regiments in the Brigade of Guards. The architect of this striking monument was Mr. H. Chalton Bradshaw.
