TO THE BRITISH NATION FROM A GRATEFUL BELGIUM

TO THE BRITISH NATION FROM A GRATEFUL BELGIUM

Between Charing Cross and Waterloo bridges on the Embankment, this Memorial and Tribute from the people of Belgium was the joint work of Sir Reginald Blomfield, R.A., and the Belgian sculptor M. Victor Rousseau. The lay-out is semicircular, the symbolic group shown in the photograph being its centre. It recalls those dark days of August and September, 1914, when the British Government and countless British private citizens gave of their best, that the refugees from the stricken kingdom might not want.
