Ad Astra: Royal Air Force Memorial, Victoria Embankment

Sir Reginald Blomfield, R.A., was the architect of this memorial, Mr. W. Reid Dick, A.R.A., being the sculptor. It is situated on the Westminster side of Charing Cross bridge, and its position at the head of steps going down to the river undoubtedly enhances the poetic impressive-ness of the monument. The keynote of the symbolism is the great eagle upon the globe at the summit ; spreading its wings as if about to take flight across the broad river and upwards to the skies.
