HISTORIC DRUMMOND CASTLE: GORDON CASTLE OF CLAN GORDON

HISTORIC DRUMMOND CASTLE: GORDON CASTLE OF CLAN GORDON

No fairer setting could have been devised for Drummond Castle (bottom), in Strathearn, than the beautiful Italian terraced gardens planned by the first Lord Drummond in the fifteenth century. Only the square tower seen on the left remains of that time, for the castle was burned in the "forty-five" and the rest of it is comparatively modern rebuilding. Gordon Castle (top), with its tremendous frontage, is the seat of the Duke of Richmond and Gordon. Its chief feature is the central tower of Gight," dating from the fifteenth century.
