Life-size statue found in a garden

Life-size statue found in a garden

Found during excavations for the building of an infirmary in the garden of S. Mary's Convent, Blossom Street, this fine statue may represent Ares or Mars. While the greaves and helmet are of Greek type, the sword and shield are characteristically Gallic.
