CHELTENHAM, WITNEY, AND SWINFORD BRIDGE

CHELTENHAM, WITNEY, AND SWINFORD BRIDGE

Cheltenham gained its reputation as a spa early in the eighteenth century, and promenade gardens (bottom) speak eloquently of Regency days. At Witney, famous for its blankets, the Butter Cross (centre) dates from 1683. Seven miles out of Oxford is the eighteenth century Swinford bridge (top) with its toll house.
