A LIVERPOOL MEMORIAL, AND MANCHESTER'S FINE PYLON IN S. PETER'S SQUARE

A LIVERPOOL MEMORIAL, AND MANCHESTER'S FINE PYLON IN S. PETER'S SQUARE

The City Memorial at Liverpool was still in course of erection outside S. George's Hall in November 1928. The altar in Liverpool Cathedral (bottom) is yet another of Liverpool's war memorials, and a beautiful example of modern carving. Manchester's memorial (top) was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. It is one of the few in the country which embody the device of the Great War Stone of Remembrance. It stands in S Peter's Square on the site of the foundations of old S. Peter's Church.
