A ROADSIDE SHRINE AT LEATHERHEAD AND GUILDFORD'S MEMORIAL ARCH

A ROADSIDE SHRINE AT LEATHERHEAD AND GUILDFORD'S MEMORIAL ARCH

Leatherhead's Memorial (bottom) stands a little way out of the town on the road to Guildford, and its homely plan and setting might serve as a type for village memorials. The flat arch of the Guildford Memorial (top), which is Doric in style constitutes a new entrance to the famous castle grounds. The two square pillars on the flanks are inscribed with the names of the Fallen Both in itself and its surroundings it is worthy of this historic county town.
