A VENERABLE SHAM AT REIGATE CASTLE

Officials of the Parliamentary party destroyed Reigate Castle in the Civil War, and the mound of the keep, fifty-foot high, is all that remains. This sham and inaccurate gateway was put up over a hundred years later, about 1777.
