THE HEART OF AN OLD TOWN AND THE KEEP OF LEWES CASTLE

THE HEART OF AN OLD TOWN AND THE KEEP OF LEWES CASTLE

As the car runs into East Grinstead the view in the upper photograph presents itself with old houses, meditating over the life of the street, on the right. At the far end it is to the left we must turn for the road to Brighton and. passing out of the town, we see Sackville College on the left hand. From here it is about eighteen miles to Lewes-whence we are just over eight miles from Brighton-and we see a view of Lewes castle in the lower photograph. The ascent to the keep is by a zigzag path among the bushes
