HUNTINGDON'S OLD CHURCH AND THE NORTH ROAD CROSSING THE RIVER NENE

HUNTINGDON'S OLD CHURCH AND THE NORTH ROAD CROSSING THE RIVER NENE

A few miles north of Buckden Huntingdon is reached, and in the High Street is the late-Perpendicular church of All Saints. In it is the register, saved from the demolished church of St. John, which contains the baptismal record of Oliver Cromwell, with the words, added later and now crossed through, "England's plague for five years." Proceeding still northwards, the road reaches Wansford, where a bridge crosses the Nene, which is here the boundary between Huntingdonshire and Northamptonshire.
