ELCHO'S GREY WALLS BY THE TAY

This fine ruin has its old martial appearance softened by roofs and gable-ends and the trees of an orchard. It lies on the south side of the Tay estuary, and dates from the last years of the 15th century. Here, the machicolation is merely decorative.
