Carfax the busy Centre of Oxford City

Carfax the busy Centre of Oxford City

What Oxford Circus is to the West End of London, so is Carfax to the city of Oxford. It is the centre where four great streets meet. Behind us lies our road, the famous "High" with its " streamlike windings," its line of shops and hotels broken by the noble Gothic of Brasenose, All Souls, and University Colleges; southward, "St. Old's" drops gently to where the dome and pinnacles of Wren's Great Tom Tower break the skyline; northward "St. Old's" becomes Cornmarket Street; westward, Oxford Castle is reached by way of Queen Street.
