LOOKING WESTWARDS ALONG THE NOBLE CURVE OF HIGH STREET

The High Street is Oxford's greatest individuality, and we see it here where, on the right, Queen's faces University College. The great spire on the right is that of S. Mary's, the University church. It is the curve of this world-famous street which helps so much to make its reputation. The splendid buildings are revealed gradually to the eye as one walks from either end. Any turning left or right takes the wanderer to some quaint corner or fine old building, mellowing slowly in the gracious atmosphere of dignity which is Oxford's own.
