THE PALACE AT STIRLING, HOME OF SCOTTISH ROYALTY

THE PALACE AT STIRLING, HOME OF SCOTTISH ROYALTY

Stirling Castle was the birthplace of James II and James III of Scotland, and James V was crowned here at the early age of two. Later he built this palace of Stirling, in which Queen Mary spent many of her childhood's days and where she eventually saw her child, who was to be king of both Scotland and England, baptised. Stirling Castleceased to be a royal residence when this boy left to rule his new southern kingdom in London. It is now used by the garrison and contains a collection of arms and armour.
