S. Asaph, in the Vale of Clwyd

S. Asaph, in the Vale of Clwyd

To-day S. Asaph is maintained as a cathedra! pure and simple, and does not also serve as a parish church. Like all the Welsh cathedrals, it has been through times of great stress, but the fairly recent restorations by Sir Gilbert Scott have preserved for the building much of the beauty that was threatened by the vandal architects of the eighteenth century. The Earlv Decorated nave and transepts (bottom) are beautifully proportioned. The top of the central tower (top) was re-edified, 1925, after its destruction by storm.
