S. Woolloss Church, Cathedral of Newport

S. Woolloss Church, Cathedral of Newport

S. Woollos parish church was raised to cathedral rank about the same time as Brecon, but in its proportions it remains the parish church. As such, however, it shares with the ancient castle the advantage of an entrancing view up the valley of the Nevern, and a great store of local memories, to which many of the tombstones, both English and Welsh, in the churchyard bear witness. The cathedral is partly embowered in ancient trees, and there is a wealth of ferns and other vegetation in its densely populated churchyard.
