MONUMENT TO A GLADIATOR

MONUMENT TO A GLADIATOR

This tablet, with Greek lettering, was found at Islington-in Roman days, and indeed until the eighteenth century, some way outside London-and seems to commemorate a gladiator, perhaps some favourite of the arena who met an untimely end.
