In the second court of Magdalene (bottom) is a fine building of the late seventeenth century which bears the inscription Bibliotheca Pepysiana 1724, the date being that at which Samuel Pepvs' bequest was received. The building became a repository for the diarist's library. Magdalene was founded in 1542. Corpus Christi (top) dates from 1356. The old court is a tine specimen of the time of Edward III Originally it comprised the whole college and S. Benet's, next door, was the chapel
