THE GARDEN OF NEWNHAM, ONE OF THE TWO CAMBRIDGE COLLEGES FOR WOMEN

THE GARDEN OF NEWNHAM, ONE OF THE TWO CAMBRIDGE COLLEGES FOR WOMEN

While Girton was built well outside Cambridge, Newnham, the other women's college, was planted boldly in the new part of the town, across the river. It has Ridley Hall, the theological training college for university students who have already graduated and intend joining the Church, on one side, and Selwyn College on the other. Newnham was opened in 1875, the first head of the college being Miss Clough. from whom Clough Hall, part of the college at which we are looking, was named. The building looks out over a charming garden.
