FOURTEENTH CENTURY HOSPITAL AT WARWICK

FOURTEENTH CENTURY HOSPITAL AT WARWICK

"Leycester's Hospital" was founded in 1571 by Robert Dudley, the great Earl of Leicester who was the famous favourite of Queen Elizabeth, as a haven where twelve old soldiers could be accommodated during their last years. Leicester used a building which was already old in his day, for it had been erected in 1383 by the guilds of S. George and the Holy Trinity.
