JOHN HAMPDEN'S HOUSE AT GREAT HAMPDEN, BUCKS

JOHN HAMPDEN'S HOUSE AT GREAT HAMPDEN, BUCKS

Though most of the ancient home of the Hampdens was pulled down in 1754, a small part remains in the present Great Hampden House, the seat of the Earl of Buckinghamshire. Good John Hampden, member for Wendover, was brought back to Great Hampden to be buried in S. Mary's Church, after being fatally wounded at the skirmish of Chalgrove Field.
