Perhaps it was the making of this road into lovely country, through lands largely under the charge of the Water Committee, which suggested the making, by that Committee, of a further road in a higher reach of the Rivelin Valley - the winding drive that leads down from the Roman road at Redmires through the wooded gorge of the Wyming Brook into the Rivelin Valley, one of the most charming pieces of scenery visible from a driving road not only in Sheffield - for the whole of the road is in Sheffield - but in England, or indeed anywhere.
